CEHTP has discontinued our geocoding services- which have served numerous stakeholders for over a decade- as part of a transition to a new geocoding tool offered by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) Information Technology Services Division.
The CEHTP suite of geocoding tools were developed starting in 2004 by our late Geospatial Sciences Director, Craig Wolff, and have assisted many public health programs in standardizing, verifying, and geo-referencing address data to latitude/longitude coordinates, as well as census block boundaries, medical service study areas, and zip codes. In addition to assisting these programs in carrying out their public health functions, the development of the CEHTP services led the way for CDPH to develop its own department-wide geocoding tool.
Using the criteria developed by CEHTP for geocoding accuracy, speed, usability, flexibility, and completeness, CDPH is piloting the use of its own geocoding service using ESRIís StreetMap Premium. With the CDPH service perational, CEHTP retired our suite of geocoding services on December 9th, 2014.
While the new CDPH geocoding service is currently only available for CDPH programs, the plan is to offer an external service available to outside partners. If you are a CDPH employee, consultant, or partner, and want to learn about the new CDPH geocoding service, please contact Anne Millington, CDPH Enterprise GIS Coordinator at (916) 323-2218 or by email.
